Coffee Time With… Bon et Bon

It’s always nice to start the morning off on a sweet note.  Our friends at Bon et Bon really know how to properly package sweetness! You can find their (delicious) artisanal bonbons in the most exquisitely designed packages, each telling a story about the candy inside.  Their online shop will leave you smiling; the cheery colors and designs will take you back to the candy-filled days of your youth.  We love seeing all of the delightful goodies they have to offer!

Who are the people behind Bon et Bon, and what do they do? Behind the pretty packaging are Amaury and Melanie; while Amaury designed the boxes, Melanie created all of the artwork.  Bon et Bon delivers you the products of regional artisans while keeping their stories and traditions in tact.  If you are in the mood for something sweet, Bon et Bon holds the key to the most delicious sugar rush.

We were lucky enough to share some coffee time with Amaury and ask him questions about Bon et Bon’s story, as well as the role that coffee has played in his journey!

On Bon et Bon…

What was the most difficult part of launching Bon et Bon?

“Convincing the artisans to work with me.” Amaury explained that the candy-making business is, in itself, old, so the people involved are also a bit older.  He had to explain to them how he would be using the internet as a tool to sell their goods; trying to get them to understand exactly what he was doing was more of a challenge.

How did you get inspired to sell bonbons?

Simple answer: “Because we liked the candies!”

Do you have any advice for other startups?

“Love what you do!” You spend 24 hours of your day working, so you really have to love what you do, especially in order to do it well.  On top of that, you’re always meeting new people and having to try to understand the product better.

What is your favorite bonbon?

“Right now, it’s a new one: Gayettes de Charleroi.”

Coffee Makes Work Sweeter!

How does coffee lift your spirit?

“Big question! First, it wakes me up. I’m not a morning guy.  But coffee is more something social that is enjoyed when talking to people.  We usually have coffee in the morning together and talk about the things we need to have done during the day.  People also come by our office simply because we have good coffee!”

At what point in your day-to-day life do you most enjoy your cup of coffee?

“Easy question- the morning.”

What prompted you to begin drinking coffee?

Amaury began his caffeine addiction when he was very young when he would spend time with his grandparents. According to him, though, it was more like milk with a bit of coffee! As he grew older, coffee became a necessary part of his mornings.

What is your favorite way to prepare your coffee?

“Filter.” Amaury enjoys his coffee best through filter.  In the past, he used cups, but realized his coffee didn’t have much taste to it.  When he discovered Apex Coffee, everything changed as he was introduced to really good coffee and the flavor potential of filter brewing.

What would your life look like without coffee?

“Which life? I would have no life without coffee!” When he has morning meetings without coffee, they just don’t happen. Coffee makes all of Amaury’s sweet work possible!

Be sure to keep up with Bon et Bon: find them on Instagram at @bonetbonstore and get inspired by some sweet creativity!

And our favorite candy? We’ll have to agree with Amaury and say that the Gayettes are pretty tasty. Find them on Bon et Bon’s online shop!
